Maintaining Good Breast Health
No one really knows what causes breast cancer. There are breast care
steps that you can take to lower your risk and reduce your chances
of developing breast cancer. Knowing the risk factors and practicing
good breast health can help you recognize and react to breast cancer's
earliest warning signs.
Fibroadenomas, a type of benign breast lump,
occur in about 10 percent of all women. You should also know
that finding a lump in your breast does not automatically mean you
have breast cancer. Non-cancerous breast lumps may occur at any age.
These lumps may require removal and biopsy, just to be safe.
Know that you can manage benign breast disease by practicing good
breast health and partnering with your doctor.
News of a breast biopsy raises many emotions and concerns. We understand. But it's important to remember that 80% of breast biopsies do not turn out to be breast cancer. It's also important to know that you have options when selecting a biopsy procedure.
