Drs. McNamara has
more than 20 years experience in medical diagnostics and
interventional treatment. As native of Michigan, he possess a special concern for the needs of the patients in the
local community. Dr. McNamara has develop a comprehensive
Radiology specialty clinic and has brought the most advanced medical
procedures to patients in Northern Michigan communities.

- Founder of Image North, Dr. McNamara has more than 18 years
experience as a licensed radiologist, with 23 years as a licensed
physician. He currently practices in the areas of General, Vascular,
Interventional, and Nuclear Radiology. He is board certified in
Radiology and Nuclear Medicine. He has special training in the
treatment of venous disease and image-guided spinal pain management,
having performed over 1500 image guided spine injections.
- Dr. McNamara has extensive experience interpreting breast-imaging
studies, having read more than 20,000 mammograms and thousands
of breast ultrasound studies. He also has more than 10 years of
experience in interpreting radionuclide breast imaging and has
a special interest in Cardiac imaging, including MRI, CAT Scanning,
and Nuclear Cardiology.
- Dr. McNamara received his Radiology Specialty training at a number
of hospitals, including Pontiac Osteopathic Hospital, William
Beaumont Hospital, Harper Hospital at the Detroit Medical Center,
and in Washington, D.C. He studied ultrasound in London, England
and Paris, France. He later taught MRI physics at Michigan State
University, where he also had attended medical school.
- Dr. McNamara is currently the Clinical Professor
for the Radiology Physician’s Assistant Program at Weber State University of
Ogden, Utah, having served previously as the Faculty Director for
Mid-Michigan Community College’s Radiologic Pathology Program.
Since 1993, he has held the position of Assistant Clinical Professor
Department of Radiology at Michigan State University.
- Dr. McNamara has authored numerous scientific papers related
to radiology, digital imaging, angioplasty, and breast-related
conditions.
